Abstract
We have seen two cases who developed bigeminal rhythm due to premature ventricular beats, which appeared in the absense of any organic heart diseass and in the absence of digitalis intoxication, or other detectable cause in this hospital during last a year¡¯s period. All of them were females and developed coupling rhythnl when assuming the recumbent position. These bigeminal rhythms abolished by parasympatholytic drug or by the assumption of the upright position, but reproduced by pressure on the carotid sinus after patients developed regular sinus rhythm following prolonged recumbency. We think that these electrocardiographic changes are probably produced by authonomic nervous system influences. Although the literatures fails to reveal many reports of similar cases, it ist probably .not a rare occurrence, seeing patients with care.
